Momming
Along with COVID, 2020 also brought me my greatest joy in life yet. My son, Torleif. He keeps me on my toes and is constantly teaching me new things about my life, including the value of taking some time to stop and smell the roses. Together we have enjoyed learning Norwegian, French, and sign language as well as how to lean into making a mess. It is not uncommon to find us having a little dance party in the kitchen while making dinner together.
Running
I first got hooked on running with the Doughnut Run in Ames Iowa in 2011. Since then I have been hooked on running 5K's and I even completed a half marathon in 2013. Watching the sunrise during my morning runs has kept me sane during this crazy year. Im hoping for an opportunity to make my way up to Duluth again this year for Grandma's Marathon weekend!
Cooking
I love to exercise my creativity in the kitchen as well. There is something so exciting about all of the fun colors and smells that go along with trying out a new recipe. I spend the summer frequenting farmers markets and working with community supported agriculture farms to find fresh exciting new ingredients. Sometimes they are great!...Sometimes not so much. For me that is part of the adventure in the kitchen.
General Adventuring
There is nothing like being outdoors. When I am in a new place, one of my favorite things to do is lace up my running shoes and see what the world has to offer. You never know what exciting new places you might find until you get out there and explore! I enjoy biking, canoeing, and hiking and just taking in the beautiful scenery around me.
